I can't believe we are just a mere three months from Miss Hazel's SECOND birthday! Where in the world did the time go and what happened to my little baby girl? She has really taken quite a liking to Sesame Street lately, so I think I might actually be trying my hand at some Elmo & Cookie monster cupcakes (her two faves) once the big day arrives. As for the party itself, I am so incredibly happy that we finally have a home where we can host a party! No reserving parks or other places and hauling all of our stuff there and back. That means that this year if she gets fussy she can actually take a nap mid-party as well (ha ha). What's amazing at this stage is that it seems like she learns several new things each day. Her vocabulary is expanding but she still won't put strings of words together. She also really enjoys telling people Bye Bye but she also adds "lah loo" at the end which means "love you!" We are also at quite an interesting and challenging stage developmentally for her. She is so independent and likes for things to be a certain way but she doesn't have the vocabulary to back it up. This usually results in what could be called a "temper tantrum" but I try to see it more as her trying to figure out how to express what she wants. I've noticed that if I talk to her calmly and ask what it is she wants that she can usually snap out of it and at least show me.
Cupcake ideas:

As for baby brother, he is just growing bigger every day. Still nowhere near the size of his big sis at 5 1/2 months which thrills me cause I get a small baby for a longer period of time. I can't believe we are coming up on him trying actual food for the first time as well. He is a pretty mellow little dude and has quite a set of lungs but he usually reserves them for when he is hungry or needs a diaper change.
We are headed to Disneyland next month to celebrate Cullen's birthday and I'm curious to see how Hazel reacts to it all. We got a snippet of a themepark when we were at Seaworld in November but five months makes a big difference so I am wondering what she will think. My guess is she will enjoy taking it all in but won't react favorably to the characters getting too close to her!

C is for cookie! I LOVE the cookie monster cupcakes. I remember getting a cupcake that looked just like that at Olson's grocery store when I was little. It must be a good memory, because Olson's hasn't been around for decades!
nom, nom, nom, cupcakes.
Great birthday theme! You are quite adventurous at making those cupcakes.
We are thinking of going to Disneyland while we are in LA later this month. I don't know how Nik will far, but I guess we can try it out.
Luke loves cookie monster! I am dying to take Luke to Disneyland! those cupcakes are awesome!
I'm voting for the cookie monster cupcakes too! What about Elmo cookies?
I love your perspective on temper tantrums. I think it must be so frustrating to not have the words to say what you want. I'd throw a fit too :)
