35 weeks, Baby Sprinkle and Trip to L&D

Unexpectedly it turned out to be quite the eventful weekend! My friend Rahnell hosted a little Baby Sprinkle (not shower) on Saturday at her house and it turned out really cute and low key. I had a nice time seeing my friends and celebrating this last little baby girl of ours. Lili and Melissa came to town to join in on the party so it was really nice to see them as well.

Sunday we didn't do much but I started having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions. This is pretty normal for this stage of pregnancy but was unusual for me as I honestly never had any during my prior two pregnancies. They kept coming all day Monday, I started feeling much worse and they were getting closer together and were going from being just uncomfortable to slightly painful. After talking to Marshall we decided to call our doula, Natalie who talked to my OB and we decided it would be best for me to head over to Labor & Delivery to get everything checked out, especially since from my first contractions to delivery with Roscoe it was only 8 hours. Natalie drove me there while Marshall stayed home with the kids and I got hooked up to the monitors. Baby girl was looking great, I was contracting about every 5-7 minutes and was 1 cm dilated. After watching me for about an hour it was determined that this was not the start of labor and they discharged me with the instructions to lay down and drink water when the contractions ramp up and to come in again if they aren't subsiding. It was weird being at L&D since the last two times I was there I left with a baby. It was certainly a reality check to be there though and realize just how soon our daughter will be here! I'm hoping for a lot less contractions today so that she can continue to grow and develop just a little bit longer! This whole time I've been planning on a July baby so it's a lot to wrap my mind around the possibility of having her in June!

Here are a few pics from the Sprinkle:

So glad that Lili could make it too!

Uh oh, guess the cake couldn't handle the Fresno heat!

So excited to welcome this new little one into the world. She sure sounds like she is anxious about it too. Hope she stays in the oven a little longer! But they certainly come on their own time. Rory was 2 weeks "early" and Abby 10 days.
